What is the life cycle of a butterfly?

The children were very excited with our new additions to the class. They were curious to explore what the caterpillars looked like. It created lots of discussion and predictions about what would happen next. Lots of the children knew about them turning into a 'cacoon' or chrysalis'. We also discussed what an exoskeleton was and how the caterpillars bones were on the outside. The children found this very interesting.
