Dolphin Class - Year 1 and 2
Welcome to Dolphin Class!
**Important Information**

As the weather becomes more changeable, please can you ensure your child comes to school with:
- A coat every day
- A water bottle
- Wellies for outdoor learning
- A spare change of clothes that can stay in school
- Their reading book and reading record brought in daily
Please make sure all items are clearly named, as this helps us quickly return any lost belongings.
Our PE days are: Monday and Thursday
Please come to school dressed in your PE kit on these days with earrings removed or taped and hair tied back.

Term 2 - Local Explorers
What features can we find in our local area?
This term, we will learn what geography is and how it helps us understand the world around us. We will begin by identifying physical and human features and exploring simple maps, including one with a key. We will then use positional and directional language, including the cardinal compass points, to describe locations, give directions and follow routes. Finally, we will investigate local, human and physical features through simple fieldwork, using our observations and data to build a clearer picture of our environment.

**HOME LEARNING**
If your child finishes their reading book before it is due to be changed, please encourage them to re-read it several times.
Re-reading familiar texts helps to build fluency, confidence and expression.
Each week, your child will bring home:
- One reading book matched to their reading level
- One reading-for-pleasure book of their choice to share and enjoy at home
